Destination Foundation - Tails of the City 2000
Legendary Apple Designer Work For Sale
05 May 2000 01:32 EST
If you are looking to pick up a one of a kind piece of memorabilia and help out a good cause at the same time, head on over to Tails of the City.
The event is sponsored by Microsoft and the charity auction event Benefits the Destination Foundation. Approximately 100 Bay Area celebrities, high-tech heroes, dot com gurus, artists, designers, architects and other imaginative types have donated their talents to creatively interpret mice donated by Microsoft. The decorated mice are currently on view through June 30.
The one mouse that particularly caught our eye, was from the legendary Susan Kare. Many of you may not know who Susan is, but the Mac old timers sure do. Susan is the person responsible for the look and feel of the computer we have come to adore. She created many of the original icons and windows of the original Macintosh.
Susan's piece entitled "Cat & Mouse" currently has no bids. Probably caused by the fact that many people do not know who she is. The fact that Susan's creative work has no bids gets our dander up, considering this artful creation by Bill Gates currently has a bid price of US$300.
Stop by the site and check out some of the very creative mice, another of our favorites is from Stanley Mouse, famous for his Grateful Dead album cover art.
Susan Kare is currently with the very much talked about start up Eazel, who are trying to bring a Macintosh face to Linux.
100 creative visionaries celebrate the microsoft mouse as art
