What is a Mac Card?
A Mac Card is a 'virtual greeting card'. By this, we mean that it can only be sent and received by people who have internet access. Perhaps the easiest way to explain what a 'virtual card' is, is to say that is very simply a post card on the internet. The recipient of a virtual card is sent an email inviting them to go to a special private web page where they can see the card they have been sent.
Do I have to pay to send or receive a Mac Card?
No. All the cards are completely free of charge and you can send and receive as many cards as you wish.
Who can I send a Mac Card to?
Anyone with an email address, anywhere on the planet!
How do I send a Mac Card?
First choose one of the small cards (pictures) on the main page, click on it to see the full sized version. When you have found one you like simply fill out the short form below the 'card' making sure you have entered all the email and name details correctly. (If you do not enter the correct email address the card will not reach it's final destination.)
After you have filled out the short form telling us who you are (so we can tell the card recipient who sent it) and telling us who you want the card sent to, just click on the 'Preview and send the card' button and you will see a web page containing your chosen 'card' and the message you have written.
At this point if you wish to make a change to the card, just click the 'back' or 'previous' button on your web browser, then change whatever you like. However, if you are happy with the card click send and in a few moments MELT will automatically send an email to the recipient of the card telling them to go to a special (and private) web page to see the a Mac Card you have written for them.
How long does the card remain stored online?
Your virtual card will remain online (collectable) for between 2 to 3 weeks depending on the amount of other cards being sent at the time by other individuals.
Who took the photographs used on the site?
All the photographs used on the site are used courtesy of Apple. The name Apple, Macitosh and Mac are all recognised Apple trademarks, as is the 'smiling face' Mac logo used between the words 'Mac cards' on our logo.
How often are new 'cards' added to the site?
Basically, as and when. Meaning there is not set date or time that new cards are added. If Apple release a new product then we would have a new Mac card, featuring that product, online as soon as possible. Other than that, don't hold your breath.
