Wed, 28 Jan 2009 18:55:14 GMT News: CEA fills 2010 CES iLounge Pavilion in 3 days, quadruples size
Thanks to an overwhelming response from the iPod and iPhone community, the Consumer Electronics Association and iLounge are pleased to announce a dramatic expansion of the iLounge Pavilion at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). According to CEA, the original space allocated for the Pavilion was completely sold within three days after the announcement, leading to a substantial waiting list. In order to accommodate continued interest…
Wed, 28 Jan 2009 18:43:24 GMT First Looks: Griffin Elan Form Chrome for iPhone 3G
How could Griffin bling up its leather-ish plastic hard case Elan Form, you ask? Elan Form Chrome ($35) is the answer, a case that questionably merges the appeal of leather with decidedly plasticy, slightly less than perfectly molded chrome accents on the face, sides, top, bottom, and back. Just like Elan Form, you can slide the bottom off for connection to Apple's iPhone 3G Dock and any other potentially incompatible accessories, and a screen protector…

Wed, 28 Jan 2009 18:23:49 GMT Review: Wi-Gear iMuffs MB220 Bluetooth Headset for iPod and iPhone
Like its predecessors, MB220 is sold as a four-piece kit: you get a pair of on-ear headphones with a flexible hard plastic band that wraps around the back of your neck, connecting the foam-covered left and right earpieces together, as well as a transmitter dongle that attaches to the bottom of your iPod or iPhone, a USB cable for charging, and a wall power adapter. Cosmetically, these parts are similar to the ones packaged in with the company’s…
Wed, 28 Jan 2009 16:01:13 GMT News: Mix: Refurb nanos, AT&T Q4, Papermaster, Payback
Apple has begun to offer refurbished units of the fourth-generation iPod nano through its online store. Available in both 8GB and 16GB capacities, the players are available in limited colors—six for the 8GB models and eight for the 16GB units. The players carry a one-year limited warranty and sell for $129 and $169, respectively. Reporting its fourth-quarter financial results, U.S. iPhone carrier AT&T announced that it activated 1.9 million…
 Wed, 28 Jan 2009 16:59:48 GMT Review: ZAGG Z.buds
Z.buds combine matte and reflective metallic plastic canalphone housings with a microphone, a call/track control button, and an in-line volume control knob, all connected to one another in a lanyard necklace-style design with thick fabric cabling. The design, which otherwise uses plastic parts that look and feel a bit cheap, didn’t impress us tremendously in black, and does even less for us in the substitute red version that we subsequently…

Tue, 27 Jan 2009 21:54:19 GMT Review: Callpod Dragon V2 Class 1 Bluetooth 2.0 Headset
Shaped like a hockey puck and larger than many of the Bluetooth headsets we’ve recently tested, Dragon V2 uses its unusually large, plastic shell to house an eight-hour battery, dual microphones that promise noise suppression, and a Class 1 Bluetooth chip that promises to let users achieve wireless distances of up to 300 feet from their devices. Callpod includes charging cables, wall and car adapters, a carrying case and a replacement eartip…

Wed, 14 Jan 2009 22:28:52 +0000 Steve Jobs To Take Medical Leave Of Absence Through June

Apple released the following letter from Steve:

Team,

I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.

In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.

I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

Steve

Apple has moved the iPhone SDK out of beta. Developers can find the final release by logging into their DevCenter accounts. iPhone developers can also rejoice in the hope of getting their apps on to actual iPhones for debugging and eventual release through the AppStore.
