The World's First Portable Visual Communication Tool Offering Color Image Transmission. Announcing the VP-210 VisualPhone.

*Japan Market only, May 17, 1999

Kyocera Corporation (President: Kensuke Itoh) has released the "VP-210" VisualPhone, a visual communication tool incorporating a CMOS image sensor with approximately 110,000 pixels and a 2.0-inch reflective TFT color LCD. This portable unit provides color image transmission over PHS lines. Along with the audio signal, the VP-210 VisualPhone transmits and receives images in real time at a rate of approximately two frames per second, making it the world's first color videophone. In addition, users can send and receive e-mail with image attachments by using the P-Mail DX (deluxe) service offered by the DDI Pocket Telephone Group and it also makes it easy to record images on the fly, opening up still further possibilities for visual communication fun.
The VP-210 VisualPhone will be on display to the public during "Business Show '99 Tokyo," which will be held from May 18 through May 21 at Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Ariake).
