The new iMac? No, a concept rendering of E-Power, from FuturePower Inc.
These gills are also reminiscent of the iMac, but there doesn't seem to be a handle.
E-Power comes with a floppy and CD ROM. We have no info on what the fins do.
Dubbed E-Power, the system includes a floppy drive, 4 MB SGRAM 3D AGP and built-in speakers, a 400 or 433MHz Celeron processor, USB, 40X CD-ROM drive, 56Kbps V.90 modem and 64 MB SDRAM, and claims easy Internet connection right out of the box. The system, priced at $799, could give the iMac a run for the money.
While all this might seem like a crisis for Apple, it might be a boon to Mac fans. This product would force Apple to go even further than just a brand-new look to make the iMac system competitive. E-Power will be offered in five colors -- ruby, topaz, sapphire, emerald and amethyst, making even the color issue a mute one.
'Our concept for E-Power was to keep it simple: offer a high quality Intel-based system with visual appeal, make it easy to use and offer it at a mass market price point,' Bill Voecks, vice president, sales, Future Power, said. 'We think owning a PC ought to be a hassle-free, totally enjoyable experience for every member of the family, from point of purchase to getting online.'
